The difference between Psychological Well-Being & Mental Health

While they do sound similar, psychological well-being is quite different to mental health. The concepts behind the two are alike but there is some difference between the two.

Having a good mental health state is only one singular part of your overall psychological well-being whereas mental health focuses on the state of your current mind whether you are currently suffering from a mental health condition and how your mind functions throughout the day.

Psychological well-being is a step beyond mental health as it is associated with how people view their everyday life and honestly assess how their own situation is going. Psychological well-being happens when you are functioning in your body and feeling well about yourself.

People can have good mental health but they may be upset about their current life state which forces their psychological well-being to be a bit off. However, people may currently suffer from a mental health condition that is holding them back from achieving psychological well-being which will need to be treated professionally by mental health experts.
